Some activities of the Photography Association of Wenatchee in the recent past, include: supervising the Chelan County Fair photo exhibit, participating in the record-setting largest apple pie project, gathering of the Tribes, photographing the apple bin races, entering the "Best of the Northwest Challenge" slide competition, submitting slides as a club to Nature's Best photo contest, judging a local photo contest, and holding a Nature Photo Seminar.  Several times a year we invite practicing photography professionals and others to give presentations at the monthly meetings.  Additionally, small groups (2-5) attend PSA Seminars in Spokane (Inland Empire Chapter) and make field trips to photogenic sites, ranging from the Sand Hill Crane Festival, held in Othello, WA, to riding and photographing the trains in Canada (please see above photo).  We are always searching for new opportunities in photography and people who can share with us their enthusiasm for photography.
The Photography Association of Wenatchee was founded in 1981 and met at the Cumbo residence on Western Ave.  Originally, it was called "The Wenatchee Color Slide Club."  After four or five years it was suspended and then restarted in East Wenatchee where it met for another five years.  In 1991-1993 we met at the Wenatchee Valley College Lyceum.  Finally, we found a home at the Wenatchee Valley Museum Swing Room in 1993 and have remained there now for over a decade.  At that time we changed the name to the "Wenatchee Photography Club" and met only once a month instead of twice.  In 2004 the name was changed again to its current name, Photography Association of Wenatchee (PAW), to cover more divisions of photography and increase membership by attracting new  members.  These divisions include: color slides, black and white slides (AFGA Scala 200), color prints, monochromes, 35mm infrared film, polaroids, movies, videotaping, and digital photography.  Today, this non-profit organization is a Photographic Society of America (PSA) club (#030131), going into its 23rd year, averaging about 15 members.
